The 8 short wedding dresses we’re obsessed with right now

Ask anyone to draw a picture of a wedding gown and I bet 9 times out of 10 you’ll be presented with a floor-length concoction – but don’t dismiss short wedding dresses too soon.

When it comes to elopements and micro-weddings they’re a natural go-to when perhaps something more formal and full-length could feel out of step with the tone of your day.

And even for big weddings there’s the freedom afforded by a short wedding dress. No need to bustle up reams of material for dancing. You can strut your stuff knowing your moves aren’t going to be restricted.

Then don’t forget those brides with amazing legs. If it’s your one day to be centre of attention why would you cover up two of your best assets?

We’re definitely advocates of the shorter wedding dress.

Still not convinced? Check out these beauties below…

Andrea Hawkes - Saffron - short wedding dresses
    ‘Saffron’ by Andrea Hawkes

‘Saffron’ from Andrea Hawkes’ Together collection is sleek and elegant with just the right amount of sass and sex appeal.

We reckon she’d look gorgeous for a chic city wedding or toughened up with a bridal leather jacket.

Ellis - Carrie - short wedding dresses
    ‘Carrie’ by Ellis Bridals

Ok so technically more of a hi-lo hemline but ‘Carrie’ by Ellis Bridals is a perfect entry point to short wedding dresses.

You get (almost) all the freedom of a short gown but still get the complete bridal wow-factor look.

Jovanna by Adore by Justin Alexander - short wedding dresses

How sweet is Adore by Justin Alexander’s ‘Jovanna’? Giving us all the Carrie Bradshaw circa 1998 vibes.

Don’t mind us, just dreaming of running off to marry at New York city hall.

    Kelsey Rose - Adelaide

From simple and chic to flirty and girly, ‘44260’ by Sincerity creates a classic look with this gorgeous tea length gown.

If you’re not ready to show too much leg, this cute number takes an elegant approach with layers of net and a Chantilly lace illusion neckline.

Marcie - Temperley - short wedding dresses
    ‘Marcia’ by Temperley

‘Marcia’ by Temperley is giving us all the feels. The trumpet sleeves, ankle-skimming hemline and elegant appliqué offer up grown-up romance and we’re loving it.

If this dress doesn’t make you want to stage a cute wedding in a wildflower meadow we give up!

Temperley’s ‘Dreamer mini dress’ is officially our fave this season.
