The Adventure Celebrant
About this business
Hi I’m Caro – a certified independent wedding celebrant who specialises in creating bespoke ceremonies for couples who live for and love the outdoors, though my services are by no means limited to that.
For those whose relationship finds its rhythm on mountain trails, windswept ridges, or long runs through wild landscapes, I design weddings that capture that same spirit of adventure. I also curate elegant, traditional ceremonies in the scenic grounds of rural country hotels for couples who prefer a more classic setting.
I often work with mountaineers, trail and ultra runners, hikers, hill walkers, and anyone who shares a deep passion for Scotland and the outdoors – couples who want to celebrate their union in the places that inspire them most. Whether exchanging vows at sunrise on a summit, within the grounds of an awe-inspiring castle, or beside a tranquil loch, I craft personalised ceremonies that honour your love story and your connection to Scotland’s land, heritage, and traditions – including meaningful rituals such as the Quaich or Handfasting.
As your storyteller and steady companion on the journey, I’ll guide you through your ceremony with warmth, presence, and a touch of fun – whatever the weather or terrain. My ceremonies are heartfelt, unforgettable, and deeply rooted in the landscapes my couples cherish.
With a background in education, inspirational speaking, photography, endurance sport, and adventure travel, I understand the pull of the mountains and the joy of testing limits. As a qualified PT and nutritionist, I’m passionate about both physical and mental wellbeing and bring that same energy into my work as a celebrant. I’m a marathon runner and ultra-runner in training, and over the years I’ve scaled mountains across the world, rafted wild rivers, bungee jumped, and even walked on fire – always driven by my love of adventure and belief in what’s possible.
Having lived abroad for much of my life – including many years in the mountains of Austria – the call to return home to Scotland finally won in 2021. I now feel truly at peace in beautiful Perthshire, surrounded by its friendly community and stunning scenery. Being centrally based allows me to easily travel across the Highlands, Islands, coastlines, and cities that make this country so special.
I would love to be part of your journey – embracing all that you love and helping you begin the next chapter of your life together, setting off toward the adventures that are still unwritten.
IF WE HAVE BEEN LEGALLY MARRIED IN ANOTHER COUNTRY CAN YOU PERFORM A CEREMONY FOR US IN SCOTLAND?
Yes, no matter where in the world you were legally married, you can have a non-legal symbolic ceremony in Scotland led by me as long as your marriage is legally valid in the country where it took place and it was in line with the laws of that country. I would ask for legal proof of your marriage in the form of your marriage certificate.Â
WHO DO INDEPENDANT CELEBRANTS IN SCOTLAND CONDUCT CEREMONIES FOR?
Independent celebrants in Scotland conduct ceremonies for couples who legally married elsewhere but want a Scottish ceremony and particularly want to be married in beautiful locations. Couples who are renewing their vows. Couples who had a registry office wedding but now want something more personal and bespoke.Â
Â
DO YOU HAVE A RESTRICTED AREA THAT YOU COVER?Â
No is the short answer. I am willing to travel anywhere in Scotland to make your ceremony truly yours. However, there will be an expenses charge of 50p per mile if I have to travel more than 30 miles to the venue/location and other reasonable expenses if I have to stay overnight away from my Perthshire base.Â
WILL YOU HELP GUIDE US ON THE LEGAL REQUIREMENTS OF GETTING MARRIED?Â
Yes, I will guide you through the legal process of getting married, providing you with the information you require to make the process as easy as possible.
