The very first wedding dress Mette Baillie, the designer behind Edinburgh-based Freja Designer Dressmaking, made was her own, back in 1994.
She graduated as a designer in 1998 and her career in wedding dresses officially began when one bride trusted her with their big day design and she’s been working in bridal ever since.
With over 25 years making wedding dresses commercially she’s seen a myriad of styles and trends.
And with this latest styled photoshoot she’s showcasing a really fun sense of style.

This latest shoot took place at an amazing penthouse and show flat, called Village View on Edinburgh’s Belford Road, by AMA homes.
How beautiful is this setting?! We love all the clean lines, natural light and high-end finishes – the perfect backdrop to Mette’s latest designs.
“I couldn’t turn down the opportunity!” she enthuses.
For this shoot Mette brought together a collection of looks which thrust polka dots, statement sleeves and a muted rainbow palette to the fore.
“I feel I have moved on to do more fun bridal stuff,” she says.
“Slightly less traditional, much more personalised, less stuffy and lots of fun pieces – garments which are a bit like Lego.
“They can be swapped around and worn in different combinations and give very different looks during the day.”
Helping Mette curate the looks for the shoot were talented friends from across the industry.
“Luckily they were all up for it,” she smiles. “In fact we were all ready to move in to the stunning building.”
We love how the jewellery and tiaras pick up on the rainbow tones from one of Mette’s dresses and how stunning are MACMADE’S floral arrangements.
And the three models look radiant with make-up looks created by Caroline Stewart Makeup Artistry and Justyn Woitala Makeup Artist.
