Celebrate People is a multi-belief organisation based on humanist values. We conduct ceremonies as well as providing support and counselling. Our highly trained and experienced celebrants represent our humanist values of love, kindness, equality, compassion, inclusion and respect. We believe that you two are central and will support you to make sure that your ceremony reflects and expresses what is important to you, your lives, your culture.
We can provide excellent Spanish, French and Italian speaking celebrants to make sure everyone is included.
We simply want you to feel cared for and supported to express your love and commitment in the way that means most to you in that special moment. You may celebrate with family and friends or run away just the two of you. Whatever you choose we are there to help you have your perfect ceremony.
We are there for you from the moment you start to think about what you want for your ceremony all the way through to you leaving for the rest of your celebrations. For most that includes making sure all the legal details are taken care of in the right way and in the right place. If you need guidance on what to include on your ceremony, we are there with many ideas and support to help you choose the best words and elements for you both.
All of our celebrants are brilliant at listening and helping as little or as much as you need them to put what is you want to say into words. For some couples this is easy, others less so. Wherever you fall on that scale we will support you in your ceremony development in preparation for the main event. Symbols and customs can strengthen what you want to say and all of us can include handfasting, drinking from the quaich, sand ceremony and many more.

Aileen was an exceptional celebrant for our wedding in September, and we couldn’t have hoped for anyone better. From the very beginning, she took the time to understand us as a couple—our story, our humour, and the tone we wanted for the day. She listened closely and crafted a ceremony that felt deeply personal, warm, and genuinely us.
On the day itself, she was outstanding. Aileen spoke with confidence and kindness, guiding the ceremony with a calm presence that immediately put everyone at ease. She captured our feelings beautifully in her words, and she struck the perfect balance between heartfelt and light-hearted. Several of our guests commented afterwards that it was one of the most meaningful and engaging ceremonies they’d ever attended.

John and I were married by Mo Waterston at Glenskirlie Castle on September 6th 2025. We wanted a celebrant who would ” get us” and make our day so special for us. We chose the right person for the job. Mo is lovely , funny and made our day unique for us and she helped us all to be relaxed. We were married by Gerrie Douglas-Scott on October 25 and it could not have been more perfect! We had family coming from the US, Canada, and Colombia, including a a few who speak only or primarily Spanish. She was able to beautifully integrate both English and Spanish into our ceremony so all our guests and both our cultures were represented and included. Prior to the wedding, she provided guidance on what to expect and how to prepare, and really encouraged us to make the ceremony our own. Our day was all we ever wanted and more. We even had multiple people tell us how beautiful they found the ceremony afterwards.
Gerrie is incredibly kind and caring – we could not have asked for a better celebrant to marry us. She’s truly a gem!
My husband and I have been together for 18 wonderful years, and finally setting a date felt like such a long-awaited moment for us. Because of that, we wanted someone who truly understood who we are as a couple. With Stuart being shy and never wanting to be the centre of attention, we were nervous about how the ceremony would feel.
But from the moment we met Maureen (Mo) everything changed. She instantly put us at ease. She listened, she cared, and she created something that felt genuinely “us.” On the day itself, she made the whole experience feel intimate and effortless. Even with everyone there, it felt like we were the only two people in the room.
Maureen didn’t just perform a ceremony—she gave us a moment we’ll cherish forever. We couldn’t have imagined anything more perfect.
My husband Andrew and I were so lucky to have Maureen Waterston (Mo) as our celebrant at our wedding 1st November this year. We met Mo initially at a wedding fair, and after chatting away for a good half an hour we agreed she was the perfect fit for our wedding day! She also explained to us initially about Celebrate People’s ethos and the background, both my husband and I passionately share beliefs that align with Celebrate People- so this was definitely a winner for us.
We followed up with an in person meeting, Mo was so kind and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. She guided us through a typical ceremony, introduced to us all the different parts and ensured we knew what we had to do and when by.
She sent drafts of the ceremony to us ahead of time, no request was too much- she even vetted our vows for us to make sure we were both on the same page.
We had a ceremony totally tailored to us, including hand fasting and drinking from the Quaich (and a few jokes for good measure).
We can’t thank Mo enough for helping in bringing together what was the perfect day, I couldn’t recommend enough!!!
