Magnificent, majestic, enchanting… We can only be talking about Scottish castles right now, can’t we!?

Saying ‘I do’ in a castle venue in beautiful Scotland is a timeless wedding trend that will never get old, especially because these breathtaking buildings tend to be exclusive use – and they have events teams that’ll go above and beyond to create the bespoke day of your dreams.

In general though, you can expect historic buildings, elegant interiors, expansive grounds and beautiful overnight accommodation – all styled to perfection in each castle’s unique way.

Talking of which, each and every wow-factor castle is packed full of its own character and charm.

Guaranteed to capture your guests’ imaginations, you’ll find everything from romantic walled gardens and special statement staircases, marble topped bars and crystal chandeliers, to peaceful, secluded settings that simply speak for themselves.

So, whether you’re planning a romantic elopement, an intimate celebration or a big ol’ party, team YSW has found 10 Scottish castles we just know you’ll love…

Set just outside Forres in Moray (and a handy 30-minute drive from Inverness), Brodie Castle is a stunning venue surrounded by expansive parkland. But what couples really love about it is hidden inside the historic castle – elegant interiors, ornate ceilings and world-famous art collections that make a beautiful backdrop for unique big day photos.

For to-be-weds looking to tie the knot with only their nearest and dearest in attendance, Brodie Castle can accommodate up to 60 guests – and there’s on-site accommodation for up to 22. That doesn’t mean larger celebrations are out though. A marquee can be set up within the picturesque grounds, giving you all the space you need and the dreamy features.

Voted one of the top three venues in Europe by Grazia magazine, Carlowrie Castle is an exclusive use wedding venue… And it’s simply gorgeous!

Built in the Scottish Baronial style between 1852 and 1855 on the outskirts of Edinburgh, it has only ever belonged to two families; the Hutchisons (who built it) and the Marshalls who acquired it 130 years later.

Now, the team pride themselves on unique and luxurious wedding packages, available indoors or outside. Carlowrie can accommodate an impressive 275 guests for dinner (and up to 450 at night!) in the calming, airy Orangery or the bespoke marquee – complete with a marble topped bar and crystal chandeliers – whilst the 32 acres of castle grounds are the perfect playground for al fresco ‘I dos’.

For those who want to celebrate their love story in a setting that’s well and truly away from the hustle and bustle, Cluny Castle is it!

Set in tranquil Aberdeenshire countryside and hidden from view by over two hundred acres of beautifully landscaped parkland, you’d never even know it was there!

Steeped in history, the much-loved yet majestic family home is perfect for romance, revelry and unrivalled hospitality – and the fact it has its very own chapel (complete with a private courtyard entrance for your guests) is the cherry on top.

After you’ve tied the knot, celebrate on the sweeping lawns or take the party inside to the glorious Tenants’ Hall.

And, at the end of the night, you two and 26 others can indulge in the luxury accommodation.

Cornhill Castle in Biggar really is an unforgettable setting for your wedding day but we must admit that we love the honeymoon suite almost as much as the castle itself!

Spanning three floors within the turret, the Balmoral Suite has a private lounge, an indulgent whirlpool bath and its own sauna.

This one-of-a-kind retreat really is the jewel in the crown of the timeless and romantic venue but, of course, there’s lots more on offer too.

Couples can choose to marry in the elegant ceremony pavilion, the grand ballroom or outdoors where breathtaking countryside views will be your backdrop.

You’ll then toast to your newlywed status with drinks on the terrace or in the stylish bar and conservatory.

And later, dance the night away under the sparkling disco balls of the Grand Ballroom. What a day!
