It’s totally up to you what style of wedding you want, but sometimes having so much choice can making honing in on ‘The One’ dress more difficult.
Which is why for our photoshoot at the majestic Mar Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa Resort with its picture-perfect spaces and delightful gardens, we decided to go big and curate not one but two looks to help you decide.
In this first look from the shoot we’re concentrating on sleek lines and simple finishes….
We set up our second theme against the window of Pratis Barns’ Shed, where couples typically hold their drinks reception.
When used alongside the adjoining Byre the full venue capacity is 250.
We love the large windows that take full advantage of the panoramic views across the Firth of Forth.
In fact, many couples choose to marry outside before making the 10-minute trip to the beach for photos.

Structured silhouettes
Exquisite cuts, corsetry and clean lines take centre stage
In this side of the photoshoot we wanted to embrace this season’s love of structured styles with a heavy emphasis on corsetry and clean lines, and we enlisted Cherry Blossom to create stunning floral arrangements that would reflect the vibe.
Laura Jardine of the company says, “The brief had lots of large blousy blooms which gave a structured yet soft romantic feel.
“We decided to use a variety of mainly big-headed flowers including dahlias, large garden roses and hydrangeas to create the soft texture.”
Tall delphiniums added height while foliage was kept to a minimum allowing the large blooms to be the focus.

Make-up artist Sharon Cuthbert of Lustre Bridal worked with hair stylist Maureen Crolla of The Bride to be on our first model Kathryn.
Maureen undertook alternative looks from a messy ponytail to a tousled up-do, and finally a sleek classic low down chignon.
Sharon opted for deeper tones on Kathryn’s face, eyes and lips including a few of her kit staples; Charlotte Tilbury‘s Airbrush Bronze, Dior Backstage eye palette 003 and a variety of lip shades, ranging from soft neutrals to a bolder lip.
“The secret is to keep it classy!” says Sharon.
“Avoid using harsh tones and clashing shimmers with shines.”

Our other model Skye (pictured above) has the most beautiful natural curls and freckles, features our professionals wanted to really showcase.
Rachel Victoria from ARK Bridal, was in charge of make-up and built up the look with a bolder look using a strong lip colour with plum undertones to make her blue eyes stand out and used a hint of eyeliner and a dew extra lashes to frame her eyes.

Skye’s natural corkscrew curls were a pleasure for Maureen who added short clip-in extensions and soothed her hair with Kerastase Elixir Ultime Serum, and used a small GHD styling wand to give definition to each curl.
“There’s a definite knack when working with extremely curly hair.
“I love it!” she adds.

The Grade A listed building is known for its timeless elegance and rich history.
Seamlessly blending historical charm with modern luxury, the lavish suites have hosted royalty, while a multi-million pound investment from new owners infuses a renewed sense of splendour into the resort.

In recent months Mar Hall unveiled its newly refurbished leisure suite including a state-of-the-art gym, a 20-metre swimming pool with saunas, steam rooms, relaxation space, and an outdoor thermal suite.
Senior appointments have been made across the resort and plans have been submitted to build 30 luxury woodland lodges within the grounds of Mar Hall’s 240-acre estate.
For to-be-weds, the estate offers three distinct function suites that can accommodate intimate garden ceremonies to grand celebrations for up to 300 guests, with menus that showcase the finest local Scottish produce led by renowned chef, Tony Tapia.
Set amidst a championship golf course, Mar Hall is ideally suited for extended celebrations.
