The shoot moved through the hotel’s foyer, corridors and gardens before heading off-site to the beach, giving each look a different mood and backdrop. The architectural elegance of the interiors gave way to the softer romance of the gardens, then the open coastal light of the beach. It was a natural progression that gave the collection real variety.

The heat was the day’s defining challenge. Timings were tight at points, but everyone worked efficiently and kept the energy up throughout. A lunch break at the hotel came at exactly the right moment. A chance to cool down, recharge and reset before the afternoon shots was so welcome.

The beach provided some of the most beautiful imagery of the day. It also provided the shoot’s most memorable moment – after wrapping there in the intense heat, someone suggested ice cream. A reasonable decision, until the ice creams immediately started melting. Everywhere – on hands, on clothes, all over the place. Everyone ate faster and laughed harder than was probably dignified.

High-energy, elegant and genuinely fun. A summer shoot that felt like a destination escape, and looked like one too.

Overheard on set

“It’s always an honour to be part of YSW shoots. When you’re asked to do the makeup and hair for a skincare guru like Dr Kaly, you know the canvas is going to be amazing. And wow, was she a dream to work with! I wanted her skin to be the emphasis for this look; for the glow to be the glamour. Then I added soft, pretty eyes and kissable lips. The hair had to emphasise the face, so a sleek style made the cheek bones and jaw line pop.”
