With the big bookings finally in place, Will Grewar is enjoying a CALM run-up to the day.
"We wanted to do something fun for our save the date announcement. I’d seen a few reels on my social feeds and thought it would be great to give it a go.
We headed to Craigtoun Country Park early in the morning and caught a beautiful sunrise. We’d roped our parents in to help with the confetti and streamers (and we cleaned up afterwards – everything was biodegradable just in case)! Because it involved spraying a bottle of fizz, we only had one practice run before the real take. We filmed it in slow motion and used At Last by Etta James as a bit of fun, since we’ve been engaged for so long.
Finding a photographer
This took longer than expected, mainly because I had a style in my head that I couldn’t quite articulate. We wanted something that felt a bit more editorial, with a documentary approach.
I’d been searching for a while – to the point where my social feeds turned into a stream of wedding photographer ads, and that’s actually how I found Isaac Craig. We sent an enquiry and had an introductory video call, which was great. He was really chilled and knowledgeable. We feel like we’re in safe hands.
What to wear
Fiona has now got her wedding dress and my outfit journey is, in comparison, pretty straightforward.
About 13 years ago my gran bought me a kilt I love, so I’ll be wearing that… Hopefully it still fits! The tartan is Fraser Red Muted for a few reasons; mainly because red is my favourite colour and we don’t have a family tartan but also because the kiltmakers looked into our clan heritage and found a connection to the Fraser clan.
One of my favourite parts of my kilt is my custom-made sporran from Morrison Sporrans. I went to their workshop and looked at all the different components – fabric, chain, the cantle. I chose gunmetal chrome with a stag design and was even able to personalise the inside. I went for red suede with pockets for keys and cards. My mum is hoping to buy me a fly plaid to match the kilt, so that’s next on my list.
What’s next
I’m still feeling really relaxed about everything. For the day itself, I’m most looking forward to getting everyone together in such an amazing venue. And with the Edinburgh Christmas Market on at the time we’re getting married, everything will feel extra festive.
