Marking over 20 years in the business of helping mothers of the bride and groom find the perfect wedding outfit, Pauline shares an insight into Catwalk’s longevity and success

Your Scottish Wedding: Going back to 2004, tell us how Catwalk got started, and what influenced the decision to open the business?
Pauline: Prior to opening Catwalk, Louise and I worked for our parents for 20 years in the hotel industry. I was 40 when they retired and felt it was the right time for me to start my own business venture.
I’ve always had an eye for style and love working with the public so when a local shop became available, we felt it would be the perfect opportunity for us to create a destination mother of the bride boutique in Falkirk.
Your Scottish Wedding: Catwalk is truly a family affair; do you think this makes a difference when it comes to customer experience?
Pauline: We are very fortunate to have such a lovely and hard-working team at Catwalk. Most of our staff have been with us for many years and have seen the business grow and flourish over the past two decades.
We are like a work family and I think our customers enjoy the fact that we all get along so well together, and it creates such a happy and relaxed atmosphere.
I am lucky to work along with my sister Louise, daughter Janine, son Ewan and niece Ailie who all play a pivotal part in the smooth running and overall customer experience of a busy family business.
Your Scottish Wedding: It was Catwalk’s 20th year in business in 2024. Tell us why it continues to go from strength to strength?
Pauline: The business continues to strive due to the dedication and commitment of the full team at Catwalk.
We offer a huge choice of the most modern and sought-after designers with all the matching millinery and shoes and bags, making Catwalk the perfect one-stop shop.
I am so proud of our team and believe their knowledge and friendly, welcoming manner adds to the overall experience, ensuring our customers have a happy and memorable visit.
Personal recommendations are a huge factor in our success with many of our customers returning time and time again.
Your Scottish Wedding: From John Charles, Veni Infantino, Condici and Ispirato to Lizabella and Veromia to name but a few, how do you decide which designers to stock?
Pauline: We truly love our current designer collections here at Catwalk and are always in awe of the new styles each season as they’re constantly evolving and moving the collections forward.
They offer an exceptional quality and cut, which ensures our ladies feel and look amazing.
We are always looking for new designers and are excited to introduce a new one, Maisonel, for autumn 2025, so keep an eye on our socials for that.
Your Scottish Wedding: What kind of experience do you hope a mother of the bride or groom will have during a visit to Catwalk?
Pauline: Customer service is what we do best. We truly care about our customers and treat them as individuals, mindful of any insecurities they may have and endeavouring to make their shopping experience a stress-free and enjoyable one.
We have a fabulous selection of designers, so they are sure to be spoilt for choice too. Our aim is to ensure they feel confident and special like never before.
Your Scottish Wedding: What are the biggest changes you’ve seen in occasionwear over the years?
Pauline: Times have changed in the past 20 years and we’ve seen mums of the bride and groom move towards a more contemporary look that can be worn again.
An elegant, well-cut dress with sleeves is a frequently requested look.
Women in their 50s and 60s are now dressing in a more youthful way and this is reflected in their occasionwear choices, and we offer this in abundance.
Ultimately, every woman wants to feel and look the very best version of herself, and we are here to help and embrace that.
Your Scottish Wedding: You’ve won the Your Scottish Wedding Award three times in a row now. What do you think accounts for your success?
Pauline: We’re very proud to have won Best Mums’ Outfits Retailer for the past three years. This is testament to the consistently high level of customer service provided by all the team here at Catwalk.
We always go the extra mile for our customers; from their initial contact through to visiting us in-store and after the big day, they are always assured they can rely on us to deliver the very best of personal attention.
We would like to say a very big ‘Thank you’ to all our gorgeous mums who voted for us.
We are truly grateful for their kind testimonials and, of course, for choosing Catwalk.
Your Scottish Wedding: What are your favourite trends at the moment?
Pauline: The ‘overskirt’ design is huge this season and we love how it takes a classic, tailored design to a whole new level, adding movement and a touch of drama.
Lots of ladies are looking for a statement standalone dress or jumpsuit/trouser suit that could be worn again for another occasion.
Your Scottish Wedding: Tell us more about Catwalk’s The Dressing Rooms in Grangemouth?
Pauline: The Dressing Rooms is Catwalk’s destination sale store and it’s the ideal place to find a beautiful special occasion outfit at a fraction of the recommended retail price.
This allows us to showcase all the new season collections in Catwalk and move any past season styles to The Dressing Rooms at greatly reduced prices.
All the information with sizes and prices is on the website: thedressingroomsboutique.co.uk
Your Scottish Wedding: Is there a celebrity you’d love to style, or whose style you love?
Pauline: In a world filled with fashion trends and different styles it’s key to find a look that represents your personality and lifestyle.
From Catherine, Princess of Wales and Claudia Winkleman, to Prue Leith, we love to see women embrace their individual style and wear it with confidence.
Our aim is to encourage our customers to try something different that makes them feel and look amazing.
Your Scottish Wedding: What’s next for Catwalk?
Pauline: We have lots planned for Catwalk and exciting new collections in both our wedding and casualwear departments.
We’re building an inhouse recording area so we can keep creating our social media reels and presentation videos, showing what’s new in store and how our styles look on a variety of shapes and sizes, as well as advice on finishing touches like headpieces, shoes and bags.
So be sure to follow us and keep an eye on our social media for updates.
