We say it all the time, if you want to meet a whole host of talented wedding suppliers and get loads of wedding inspo nothing beats attending a wedding show.
When else are you going to meet everyone from stationery makers and cake designers, to bridal boutiques and vintage car companies all under the one roof?
So we’re on the countdown to next month’s Braehead Wedding Exhibition at the Braehead Arena Saturday 4th (10am – 5pm) and Sunday 5th May (11am – 5pm).
Now it’s in its eighth year, event organiser Nicole Mitchell explains how the event first got going.
“Our first show was in 2016,” she says. “After running small hotel wedding fayres and building relationships with suppliers we saw a gap in the market for a big wedding show in Glasgow and so began the award-winning Braehead Wedding Exhibition.”
This year to-be-weds and their entourages can expect 130 wedding professionals, stunning catwalk shows, band showcases and a wedding car display.
And with the show being held in Braehead Arena there’s an abundance of free parking, great public transport links and a range of dining options, meaning there’s no need to feel under pressure.
This is a show to take your time at.
“It’s a very relaxed day,” Nicole agrees. “All the feedback every year from suppliers and visitors is how chilled the event is compared to others.
“With four – six different suppliers per category there is a great variety to choose from to match your style and budget.”
Top tips
If you’ve never been to a wedding show before it can (understandably) be a bit daunting, especially if you’ve no idea what to expect, but Nicole has let us in on her top tips.
“Make a day of it!” she says.
“Come along for doors opening at 10am on Saturday or 11am on Sunday and have a browse around.”
“Go to the first band showcase, then the catwalk.
“Using your wristband you can pop out into Braehead Shopping Centre for lunch and drinks and come back in. There is also a bar and small cafe onsite.”
And she urges visitors to bring a notepad to write down any key information you get from suppliers, such as offers or quotes.
Also remember a tote bag for flyers and magazines, or you can buy one at the door for £6.50.
“Enjoy the experience and leave feeling buzzing for your big day!”
Highlights
As well as all the suppliers stands make sure you make a beeline for the band showcase, which is included in the price of the ticket.
It takes place twice a day with a set of three live bands Fever Pitch, Yin Yang and Fortebeat, guaranteed to get your toes tapping.
Maybe they’ll end up being the group that fills your dance floor on the big day!
Then ensure you don’t miss the catwalk which again takes place twice a day. Included on the runway this year are Enchanted Bridal, Wedding Wise, Moda Dea, Mia Bella Mums and Highland Kilt Connections.
What better way to discover all the very latest fashions before you hit the shops?
