A floral delight of a wedding at Colstoun Estate, East Lothian
Erin and Callum

Erin and Callum first met at school, growing up together with the same friendship group.
“It took a long time before we realised something else was there,” Erin explains,
“We started seeing each other in secret (in case anything went wrong, so it didn’t affect the group) but after a year of doing so, Callum asked me to be his girlfriend officially at our favourite restaurant, the Longniddry Inn, and the rest is history.”
Callum proposed with a custom-made engagement ring in September 2021 at Aberlady Bay where they used to go all the time growing up.
“Our first priority was getting the certain suppliers we knew we couldn’t have our wedding without.” Erin says.
The venue was booked a matter of days after getting engaged.
“Colstoun felt completely ‘us’, relaxed, fun and something a little different.
“We didn’t view any other venues at all, it was always Colstoun!
“The polytunnel was what won us over – an outdoor ceremony but with cover.
“We also wanted somewhere we could hire for the weekend and have full control of set-up and décor.”
They always wanted a spring wedding so pastels were the theme, as these were timeless, pretty and didn’t dictate too much of the décor.
Speaking of which, Erin says there isn’t much they didn’t DIY at the wedding.
“We made giant paper flowers for our ceremony, all the on the-day stationery, the napkins, the table flowers … We had so much fun doing it together – and I’m shocked we managed it all!”
Dream dress
Erin knew two things about her perfect dress: it had to be pink and have bows!
“My shopping experience was perfect!” she says, “Emma Roy and all the wonderful ladies there made everything so easy.
“They really took the time to understand you and what you were looking for.
“To be honest, choosing the dress was probably the easiest part!”
Funnily enough, Callum actually had a hand in picking Erin’s dress too!
“A wee while before going to the appointment, Callum and I walked past the shop window and he pointed at a dress in the window and said ‘that dress is so you!’ … and that was the dress I ended up buying!”
Erin went for ‘Shasta’ by Maggie Sottero in blush, describing it as “the dress of my dreams”.
She accessorised with pearl earrings and a bracelet from Lily and Roo, as well as some blush shoes with bows.
She also wore her mum’s wedding veil, which she had customised with pearls and embroidery.
Erin’s sister Amy was maid of honour and college friend Louise was her bridesmaid.
She left the choice of dresses up to them, giving a budget and the colour sage green.
“They could choose whatever dress they wanted.
“They ended up agreeing on the same gown which was a beautiful tulle sage green dress with pearls from ASOS.
“They looked incredible!”

Callum wore an Isle of Skye tartan kilt with a green tweed jacket and matching tartan tie.
‘I do’
The wedding party and close family stayed in a big house the weekend of the wedding, going for a meal the night before, then finishing off the evening with a few games of pool and a couple of drinks.
“It was so chill and so lovely to share all the excitement with our loved ones,” Erin says.
“Me and Callum woke together, had a lovely morning and we all ate breakfast together.
“Then we went our separate ways to get ready!”
And the chilled vibes continued as preparations for the day got underway, “It was so lovely, relaxed and fun.
“There was no pressure, no flapping, just fully able to take every moment in.
“We had lunch, a few drinks, good music and the best team getting us ready for the day.”
Erin certainly wasn’t experiencing any pre-ceremony jitters, “I wasn’t nervous – just excited to get down there!
“My dad walked me down the aisle and it was a moment I’ll remember forever.
“I got emotional once I saw Callum getting emotional.
“I was just really excited to show him my dress and see if he remembered technically choosing it – he did, he recognised it!”
Music played a big part in proceedings, all performed by John Rankin, aka Glasgow Piano Man.
Erin walked down the aisle to Let’s Get Married by The Proclaimers, they signed the register to I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do by ABBA and What a Wonderful World
by Louis Armstrong, and they walked out to We Go Together from Grease.
The couple had a humanist ceremony, wanting something that reflected them and told their story.
They also planted a tree – something that will grow along with them.
Afterwards their 70 guests enjoyed a drinks reception and entertainment such as garden games, a live painter and (for the thrill-seekers) a rodeo bull.
“After dinner we had cocktails and Drums N’ Roses got everyone bouncing for the party.
We then had The Shakers band who had the dancefloor full. Later on we had a wonderful firework show with a lone piper on the roof playing Highland Cathedral,” Erin smiles.
“Everyone was having a great time, relaxed and just full of fun!
“There was always something to see, do or watch.
“It was a huge thing for us that everyone was entertained, and I think we pulled that off!”

“It was a complete joy to photograph this wedding.
Every second was packed with fun and happiness!
So many moments jump out – from the gorgeous confetti run to the bucking bronco, and the piper before the fireworks!”
