A wedding blending Polish tradition, Irish heritage and a shared love of GOLF.
Klaudia and Jim first met at a golf club in St Andrews in 2016. She worked in the bar while his office was nearby, and they became friends before starting a relationship four years later.
Jim proposed during a winter stay at The Fife Arms in Braemar. After two whiskies at the bar (“very unlike him,” Klaudia laughs) they set off for a crisp walk along the River Dee. With the Cairngorms as backdrop, nerves gave way to a ring and a yes. “Jim did an amazing job choosing my ring.”
The DECISIONS
Planning began just nine months before the big day, so priorities were clear. The Old Course Hotel was secured first, followed by St Salvator’s Chapel. “I think it’s the most beautiful venue I’ve ever seen,” Klaudia says.
Both venues are woven into their working lives. Jim hosts golf trips at the Old Course while Klaudia creates bridal make-up looks there. Choosing it felt natural – and the outlook across the course sealed it. “We’re both golfers so this view was important to us.”
The aesthetic was refined luxury – clean, fresh and minimal. Klaudia created her own faux hydrangea centrepieces, keeping décor simple and white, while her mother-in-law (a retired florist) crafted the fresh bouquets. Her aunt baked intricate cookies inspired by Klaudia’s gown and Jim’s suit. “It felt understated but personal,” she smiles.
She tried 45 dresses before finding the one – a lace design from a boutique near Gdynia, Poland. Fitted, subtly sparkling and romantic, it struck the balance she was searching for. A jewelled belt and veil added extra shimmer, while Jim chose comfort over formality. Ditching the morning suit, he worked with a stylist and opted for a cream textured blazer, a baby-blue satin shirt and turned-up chinos – polished yet true to his everyday style. He carried his great-grandfather’s pocket watch, a family heirloom passed down through four generations of ‘Jim Stewart’. “It reminds me of the importance of family,” Jim explains.
The REFLECTIONS
Looking back, what stands out is the joy: guests letting go, traditions blending seamlessly, a chapel steeped in history and a ballroom overlooking the Old Course.
Considering couples currently planning, they say: “Make sure you enjoy yourself as you only get one chance. If the preparation is right, everything will run to plan and your guests will be happy.”
